From Inverness: 3 Day Private Tour of Isle of Skye + Glenelg Ferry, Brochs, Urqhart Castle and Eilean Donan Castle

3 days

Moderate

Experience a three-day scenic tour of Skye from Inverness, Including Fairy Pools, Old Man of Storr, the Glenelg Brochs, Eilean Donan and Urquhart Castle, with wild walks and exploration of stunning landscapes and historic sites.

Starting from a pick up point in Inverness, your group will have it's own personal tour guide on our 3 day private tour to the Isle of Skye and back.  Experience the best of Skye, it's iconic locations and lesser known stops along the way.  Your guide lives on the Isle of Skye and will bring every location to life with the stories, myths and legends.

Day 1 Inverness to Skye

  • Visit historic Urquhart Castle and Visitor Centre and it's spectacular views over Loch Ness. See if you can spot the Loch Ness Monster!  Castle entrance fee not included
  • We stop to take in the views at Loch Cluanie and Ratagan Pass
  • We detour to visit the Glenelg Brochs, a lesser known spot off the beaten track.  Brochs are Iron Age (2000 years old) round towers,  found only in Scotland, possibly built as defensive structures by the Picts.  These ruined towers still stand 10-meter-high and are of global archaeological significance.
  • Kylerea Turn Table Car Ferry  We arrive on Skye in style, on the worlds last working turn table ferry. People come from all over the world to see the ferry and make the short but spectacular crossing from Glenelg on the mainland to Kylerea on Skye.
  • See the Cuillin mountains from the Old Bridge, Sligachan, and if you're brave enough, dip your face in the mythical river water.

Day 2 The Isle of Skye

  • Old Man of Storr from a low level viewpoint. The walk to the Storr pinnacle itself is a 2 to 3 hour round trip, so if you want to do that (and it's a fantastic walk) it's better to book our bespoke tour or North Skye loop tour.
  • Kilt Rock viewpoint
  • Visit the Skye Museum of Island Life, a reconstructed black house village and experince what life was like on Skye in the past
  • Explore the Fairy Glen
  • Stop at the Quirang viewpoint, a short walk to see the dramatic pinnacles and plateaus of this unique landscape
  • Explore Portree Harbour & Shops with it's quaint colourful houses and arts and crafts shops.

Day 3 Skye to Inverness

  • Walk to the Fairy Pools, which takes around 90 minutes
  • Travel to the beautiful village of Carbost, and Talisker Distillery visitor centre and a have an optional fireside dram of whisky (this is not a full tour).
  • Depart Skye to Inverness, stopping on the way to explore Eilean Donan Castle and Visitor Centre Castle entrance fee not included
